What's the difference between cashmere, yak wool and camel wool?

All three are natural wool types from Mongolia, but each with its own character: cashmere is the classic, soft luxury wool; yak wool is warm, soft and the gentlest choice; camel wool is golden, temperature-regulating and light. Read more on Cashmere, yak and camel wool.

Is it real Mongolian cashmere?

Yes. Our materials and products come from the Republic of Mongolia — not to be confused with the Chinese province of Inner Mongolia. Both the raw wool and the finished product stay in Mongolia, which is unusual: most cashmere is processed outside the country.

Why is cashmere expensive?

It's a slow material. A goat only yields a small amount of fine undercoat each year, it's combed out by hand in spring, and one sweater requires wool from at least three goats. Quality that takes time.

Care

How do I wash cashmere and wool?

Gently — hand wash or a wool programme at low temperature, mild wool detergent, and dry flat. See our guide to caring for fine wool fibres for a step-by-step.

My item is pilling — is something wrong?

No, light pilling is completely normal for natural fibres at first and fades over time. A wool comb or fabric shaver helps. More in the care guide.

How do I store it so it doesn't get moth-eaten?

Clean and folded, ideally in a sealed bag or drawer. Wash or air it out before longer storage — moths are attracted to stains and skin oils. See the care guide.

Shipping & returns

Where do you deliver to, and how long is delivery?

We ship to Denmark and Sweden; normal delivery time in Denmark is 2-3 business days.

Can I return an item?

Yes, you have a 30-day right of return. The item must be unused and in its original condition. Write to us and we'll help you along.

Can I pick up my order at the showroom?

Yes — you can collect it at our showroom in Søborg by appointment.

Sustainability & animal welfare

Is Undarmaa a sustainable company?

We don't call ourselves sustainable today — that would be promising too much. But we're working deliberately in that direction: we know the origin, choose natural fibres, keep production in Mongolia, and aim for fewer, better and more durable products. Read more on Producers and responsibility.

How is the wool harvested?

The fine undercoat is combed out by hand in spring, when the animals naturally shed — gentler than shearing, and the guard hairs stay in place, so the animal remains protected.
