Ivel wrist warmers

Ivel is knitted in 100% yak wool and has a fine, soft quality that gives comfortable warmth without adding bulk. The simple shape makes them easy to wear alone or together with gloves, and they also work well at the computer or on cool days when you want your fingers free. The colour Natural platinum grey comes from yak wool's natural, undyed grey shades and has a light, mottled play of colour. Yak wool stays beautiful longest with gentle handling. Air your garment between wears, and wash it in cold water with wool detergent. Dry flat and avoid wringing. Store folded rather than on a hanger to keep its shape.

Yak wool comes from the animal's soft undercoat, just like cashmere from the goat — it's not the guard hairs but the layer beneath that's used. It's combed out in spring, when the animal naturally sheds its winter coat.

A single yak yields enough wool for a whole sweater on its own — far more than a single cashmere goat can provide. Both the yarn and the knitting are made in Mongolia, the same place the animals live.
