Khulan poncho

Khulan is a light, warm poncho with a V-neck and a soft drape that allows good freedom of movement and makes it easy to layer over other pieces. It can be worn over a shirt or turtleneck in the transitional months and over heavier knitwear when the temperature drops. The platinum grey variant is knitted in yak wool with a small share of cashmere for extra softness, while the dark grey is pure yak wool. Both colours are undyed and come from the fibres' own natural shades. A simple, versatile layer that gives warmth without feeling heavy.

Yak wool stays beautiful longest with gentle handling. Air your garment between wears, and wash it in cold water with wool detergent. Dry flat and avoid wringing. Store folded rather than on a hanger to keep its shape.

Yak wool comes from the animal's soft undercoat, just like cashmere from the goat — it's not the guard hairs but the layer beneath that's used. It's combed out in spring, when the animal naturally sheds its winter coat.

A single yak yields enough wool for a whole sweater on its own — far more than a single cashmere goat can provide. Both the yarn and the knitting are made in Mongolia, the same place the animals live.
