Ayan scarf

Ayan combines Natural dark brown and Natural platinum grey in narrow stripes. Both shades are yak wool's own, undyed colours. The knit has small, horizontal ridges that make the stripes more pronounced. The scarf is finished without fringe.

Ayan is 180 cm long, and with a width of 70 cm it can be worn unfolded over the shoulders, where it covers both the upper back and upper arms like a shawl.

Yak wool stays beautiful longest with gentle handling. Air your garment between wears, and wash it in cold water with wool detergent. Dry flat and avoid wringing. Store folded rather than on a hanger to keep its shape.

Yak wool comes from the animal's soft undercoat, just like cashmere from the goat — it's not the guard hairs but the layer beneath that's used. It's combed out in spring, when the animal naturally sheds its winter coat.

A single yak yields enough wool for a whole sweater on its own — far more than a single cashmere goat can provide. Both the yarn and the knitting are made in Mongolia, the same place the animals live.
