Dulaan socks

Dulaan is knitted in 100% yak wool and has a dense, soft quality that gives noticeable warmth without feeling heavy. The dark brown colour is yak wool's own natural shade and therefore completely undyed. The socks are especially well suited for relaxing, as sleep socks, or as extra warmth on longer journeys. Yak wool's fine fibres aren't particularly hard-wearing, so they're mainly intended for wear without shoes, where the material's softness and warmth come into their own.

Yak wool stays beautiful longest with gentle handling. Air your garment between wears, and wash it in cold water with wool detergent. Dry flat and avoid wringing. Store folded rather than on a hanger to keep its shape.

Yak wool comes from the animal's soft undercoat, just like cashmere from the goat — it's not the guard hairs but the layer beneath that's used. It's combed out in spring, when the animal naturally sheds its winter coat.

A single yak yields enough wool for a whole sweater on its own — far more than a single cashmere goat can provide. Both the yarn and the knitting are made in Mongolia, the same place the animals live.
