Khangai cardigan

Khangai is a classic cardigan in 100% undyed yak wool that feels warm, soft and comfortable on the body. The dense knit and the naturally dark brown yak wool give the cardigan a calm, distinctive look, while a zip, ribbed details and practical front pockets keep the design simple and functional. Yak wool stays beautiful longest with gentle handling. Air your garment between wears, and wash it in cold water with wool detergent. Dry flat and avoid wringing. Store folded rather than on a hanger to keep its shape.

Yak wool comes from the animal's soft undercoat, just like cashmere from the goat — it's not the guard hairs but the layer beneath that's used. It's combed out in spring, when the animal naturally sheds its winter coat.

A single yak yields enough wool for a whole sweater on its own — far more than a single cashmere goat can provide. Both the yarn and the knitting are made in Mongolia, the same place the animals live.
