Tara poncho

Tara is knitted in 100% yak wool and has a thick, soft quality that gives good warmth on cool days. The high turtleneck and open sides create a simple drape, while a button on each side makes it possible to gather the shape slightly. The poncho can be worn loose over shirts and knitwear or with a belt if you want a more defined silhouette. The dark grey colour is yak wool's own natural shade and is therefore completely undyed. A warm, versatile layer for autumn and winter.

Yak wool stays beautiful longest with gentle handling. Air your garment between wears, and wash it in cold water with wool detergent. Dry flat and avoid wringing. Store folded rather than on a hanger to keep its shape.

Yak wool comes from the animal's soft undercoat, just like cashmere from the goat — it's not the guard hairs but the layer beneath that's used. It's combed out in spring, when the animal naturally sheds its winter coat.

A single yak yields enough wool for a whole sweater on its own — far more than a single cashmere goat can provide. Both the yarn and the knitting are made in Mongolia, the same place the animals live.
