Tenger plaid

Tenger is a woven plaid in 100% Mongolian yak wool in the natural grey shade Natural Platinum Grey. The dense weave gives the plaid a calm, classic look and a comfortable weight, while the yak wool holds warmth well. At 150 × 200 cm it's roomy enough to wrap around yourself and also works well spread over a sofa or as an extra layer on the bed. The mottled grey natural tone highlights yak wool's character and makes Tenger easy to combine with both light and dark textiles in the home.

Yak wool stays beautiful longest with gentle handling. Air your garment between wears, and wash it in cold water with wool detergent. Dry flat and avoid wringing. Store folded rather than on a hanger to keep its shape.

Yak wool comes from the animal's soft undercoat, just like cashmere from the goat — it's not the guard hairs but the layer beneath that's used. It's combed out in spring, when the animal naturally sheds its winter coat.

A single yak yields enough wool for a whole sweater on its own — far more than a single cashmere goat can provide. Both the yarn and the knitting are made in Mongolia, the same place the animals live.
