Ger booties

Ger booties are knitted in 100% yak wool and have a thick, soft quality that keeps feet warm without pinching. They sit loosely around the foot and are meant as a cosy alternative to ordinary socks – for the sofa, the bed, or cold mornings at home. The dark brown colour is yak wool's own shade and therefore completely undyed. The booties are intended for quiet moments indoors and shouldn't be used as slippers on hard or rough floors, as this would wear unnecessarily on the fine fibres.

Yak wool stays beautiful longest with gentle handling. Air your garment between wears, and wash it in cold water with wool detergent. Dry flat and avoid wringing. Store folded rather than on a hanger to keep its shape.

Yak wool comes from the animal's soft undercoat, just like cashmere from the goat — it's not the guard hairs but the layer beneath that's used. It's combed out in spring, when the animal naturally sheds its winter coat.

A single yak yields enough wool for a whole sweater on its own — far more than a single cashmere goat can provide. Both the yarn and the knitting are made in Mongolia, the same place the animals live.
